Apple: the next iMac would adopt a new design and an Apple Silicon processor this year

For the first time since 2012, Apple would finally renew the design of its iMac. In 2021, Apple is preparing at least three new desktop Macs. According to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, who also released information on future MacBook Pros and iPhone 12 successors in recent days, Apple will announce an iMac and two Mac Pros in 2021. The transition to Apple Silicon processors gives a new blows to the computers of the Californian giant.     iMac: finally an edge-to-edge screen This year, the iMac could change completely. Mark Gurman indicates that the borders of his screen would be much smaller, like Pro Display XDR, the ultra high-end screen launched by Apple with the Mac Pro in 2019. La Libra, Facebook's digital currency, announced for 2021 in reduced format

La Libra, Facebook's digital currency, announced for 2021 in reduced format

Facebook could launch Libra, its digital currency in 2021, we learn from the British media Financial Times, which quotes people close to the process. The product is expected to arrive in a limited version, after the project has met with great aversion from regulators, including in the United States, the country where the headquarters of the social media management company are located.

The stakeholder association behind this digital currency project is now planning to launch a single version of Libra that will itself be pegged to the dollar, at the rate of one unit of US currency for each Facebook digital currency. “The other forms of currencies will be deployed at a later stage,” the FT source added.

The exact launch date will depend on when the project receives approval to operate as a payment service from the Swiss Financial Market Supervisory Authority. According to consensus on the matter, this could happen as early as January 2021. Authorities have not yet commented.

The timing to launch Libra seems right. Many analysts believe that traditional and especially American financial products will underperform for several years to come. Thus, investors and households are looking for safe investments for their assets under management, or their savings. Since the start of the volatility that is gripping the markets this year 2020, synthetic financial products such as listed index funds and digital currencies, such as bitcoin, have been enjoying success.

Indeed, behind the success of stock indices like the S&P 500, lies a solid performance of technology stocks which are overvalued and a poor performance of companies in other sectors which evolve in an uneven context of economic recovery. Also, US Treasuries and those of developed countries are gradually falling into the negative yield zone or close to zero.
