This is why you may no longer be able to drink on a plane

How to respect the security measures against coronavirus on board an aircraft? If the wearing of the mask seems to be gradually becoming established, some airlines are not hesitant to accompany it with other more surprising measures, as CNN notes. EasyJet, KLM, Delta Airlines and American Airlines have opted to ban alcohol on board the aircraft. A decision which would aim above all to limit interactions with the cabin crew.

This is why you may no longer be able to drink on a plane

Easyjet, which resumed its connections between France and the United Kingdom this Monday, June 15, only offers bottled water to its passengers. There is no more alcohol. The restrictions don't stop there, however, for the British airline, which also encourages passengers to bring their own meals. Service is expected to resume gradually on board the aircraft, but the objective is for the moment to limit interactions between passengers and cabin crew. Since masks often have to be kept on the journey, not offering food or drink can also reduce the number of times passengers remove their protection. However, the situation is not uniform from company to company.

Virgin Atlantics offers a "health pack" with a mask and even gel, but also no alcohol. On the Ryanair side, you will have to order what you want to eat before the flight, alcohol is always available.

Air France adapts to circumstances

The French airline Air France has chosen to approach the situation differently depending on the type of flight. This way, you will not have any drinks or meals during a journey of less than two and a half hours. But if the flight lasts longer, then the situation will be the same as it was before the pandemic, says BFMTV. Its sister company KLM also offers water and non-alcoholic beverages. A refreshment pack is also waiting for you when boarding. For Lufthansa, a bottle of water is available if your flight lasts less than 2 hours 30 minutes. Beyond that, the service is classic, including with the possibility of ordering alcohol.

In the United States, Delta Airlines no longer serves alcohol on domestic flights, but still offers alcohol on its international flights. American Airlines only offers alcohol on long-haul flights and for its first class passengers. Note that most of these airlines also require the wearing of a mask. Some such as Air France do not hesitate to use the police if necessary, to enforce these regulations.
